I don't believe they do it by individual unless its a new customer. What they do is request reports of all those drivers in a particular state who have been convicted of serious violations such as excess speeding, DWI, reckless driving, etc.
in theory that makes sense....but insurance is about making profits...in theory, why not pull EVERYONE then jack up all the offenders according to degree of the violation. That would be instant profit! Just a thought

According to the New York State Department of Vehicles site, a moving violation conviction or an accident in NY normally remains on a driver's record during the year of the conviction occurred and for the following 3 calendar years. For this the DMV uses the year that the conviction happened, not the year of that the violation occurred.
The NYS DMV removes a conviction or an accident from a NYS driver's record on January 1 of the forth year after the conviction. Unless it is a serious conviction or accident of a serious type, those convictions can remain on a NYS driving history for more than 10 years.
They don't start surcharging for the ticket until you plead guilty, which is when it goes on you MVR. Whoever told you to wait has no idea what they are talking about.

The 5 years I mentioned earlier was for 16-20mph over. Lawyer had knocked it down to that.

clearview has been a police trap for decades.....its is one highway I would never speed even with a V1 and a jammer.
Yup, learned that the hard way as I don't travel more than 2 exits on it more than once a year. The cop didn't even have a radar gun, it was an estimation according to the ticket that I was doing 75 which just so happens to be 25 over. Yeah ok. Traffic lawyer says we can't contend that regardless.
