I never tried that in my life and I probably won't fly to chicago for it. Any recommendation?

Most pizza places on LI have them. I like the deep dish meatball pizza from Gio's in East Islip.

Chicago is a fine place to visit. Why not?

Never understood the demand of the Chicago style pizza. It's like spaghetti sauce floating in a pie crust. Doesn't compare to NY style.

A GOOD deep-dish is so packed with meat and cheese and maybe vej that it's not remotely like floating spaghetti sauce. We make our own.

This couldn't be further from the truth.

Oxymoron.

This also couldn't be further from the truth. Comparing deep-dish pizza to NY style pizza is like comparing apples and bowling balls.

I haven't been able to find good deep dish anywhere in NY. A lot of places claim to have deep dish or "Chicago style" pizza but it does not compare to the real thing.
Chicago is a great city though. Its only a few hour flight and the deep dish is amazing there. City itself is amazing. I was there once on a long weekend and had deep dish every day I was there. It was simply amazing. It's different from NY style pizza but it is delicious in its own way. The only people I know that have something negative to say about it are NY pizza homers or people who haven't had real deep dish pizza. Pizzeria Uno does not count.

Chicago is one of my favorite cities to visit, and it's only a 90 minute flight from New York.

I'm a traitor, though, because I much prefer REAL Chicago deep dish. I still haven't found anything comparable outside of Chi-town, though...
