Technically, just cross out the barcode and mark RETURN TO SENDER. Informally, talk to your mailperson and let them know that the other people don't live there anymore. You can also tape a note in your box that says "NO TENANTS OTHER THAN JOHN SMITH" or "BOB JONES DOES NOT LIVE HERE" to remind them when they are delivering the mail.
They should have filed an address change. You may be getting bulk or junk mail and there is little hope to stop this. If not contact the post office. I am still receiving junk mail for a former owner just shy of 4 years later.
I was still getting stuff from 2 owners ago.
Toss it.
Unless there may be money in the envelope.
Me too ! I was getting doctor bills from a previous owner who owed money after she had a baby. I called the billing company and I haven't received any of her mail. Meanwhile I am living here 14 years!!!
I got stuff from the previous owner of our NY house for years. YEARS. It was ridiculous - I once even got called to the PO for a certified letter, which they made me sign for before showing me the letter, and it was for the prior owners. I finally just started throwing the stuff in the garbage. The prior owners were numnut earthy crunchy types and some of the stuff in the beginning was clearly checks (they worked out of the house) - nothing I did as far as talking to the PO did any good. And today good luck knowing who your mail carrier is.
Just chuck it. If it's important the prior owners will figure out to get it sent to them again.
While I'm near 100% sure you can get away with just throwing it away, I feel I'd be remiss if I didn't point out that doing so is technically a federal crime, punishable by a fine and up to five years imprisonment. Personally, I'd tape a note in the box. FWIW.

All they would have to do is punish just one person who tossed mail and they would have a riot on their hands.
