I've never taken this trip, have to go to Westbury for a very important early morning appointment around 8 AM tomorrow. Google directions tell me it would take 1 hour and 25 minutes on Monday. I will be driving. Google directions says 47 minutes if I leave on Sunday evening so it depends on the time of departure.
When should I plan on leaving Stony Brook on Monday morning? Any ideas? I would rather plan on leaving early if I'll be stuck in rush hour traffic.
What would you do if you didn't have a forum to ask? You have Google as a guide. If its that important then you know you have to leave more than enough time. Anybody's recommendation can't account for unforeseen traffic or accidents.
Thank you for your reply. I think you are suggesting 2 hours if I want to be confident or it's pretty likely that I could make it within one and half hour if I traffic cooperates.

Thank you for your reply. I understand. I could reply on google's estimates but wanted to ask real life estimates from folks who have done the trip or familiar with the traffic and route. No one can guarantee the type of traffic one might get ona given day but one would know the average commute time etc

I was wondering what time Iam left. I wasn't on last night or I would have answered.
Decent weather and no traffic it takes me 45 minutes to get to the Round Swamp Rd LIE exit. That would be using the NSP /SAG/LIE. I would tack on another 30 minutes for Westbury (not knowing where) and then 30 minutes for weather. 6:15 AM would have been my recommendation.

Well if you're confident why not leave at 6:45? You'll have plenty of time to be late.
Thank you for all your replies. I'm back from the appointment. For anyone in future looking at this, it took me about an hour to get to Westbury from general StonyBrook area. It was raining hard but I didn't have to sit in traffic meaning the traffic kept moving..I did come to a slow patch .. don't know where it was..somewhere in the beginning. I ended up leaving at 6:30 ..planned on 6:15 but last minute things..in any case..I would estimate one good hour for the trip. I don't know if the traffic is like this on typical week day (in my case Monday) but I didn't run into any bumper to bumper type traffic that I had in mind.
Nice to see you OhBeeHave. Hope you are doing well! I remember you answering tons of questions when I was asking when initially moving here.
Thank you again for your replies, it really helped!
