As for a pic of the car, fughedduboutit. Supposedly they could not identify the people OR the car due to the extent of the damage. The car was ground to a pulp between the two trains. Maybe they'll find the license plate in a day or two.
I see people racing the beat the crossing guards all the time and I just want to throw a brick right through their windshield. Everyone is in a hurry to get somewhere. It angers me because not only are they putting their lives in danger but more importantly they are putting other people's lives in danger.

Remember a few years ago when that stupid, irresponsible and entitled Yenta that caused the Metro North train crash: https://www.lohud.com/story/news/tra...ils/507783001/ ? She was responsible for the death of 5 other innocent people.

On top of that, this woman's widower had the audacity to sue the Metro North for negligence. I'm glad they proved that she was at fault and the victims should be looking to sue the Widower for his stupid wife's mistake.

Selfish to purposely inconvenience thousands of people trying to get to & from work … tragic but stupid and preventable.

A pic of the disaster and a warning should be plastered at all LIRR stations. Better this than another liquor ad.

People also forget that train drivers and passengers are left traumatized for life after events like this.

There also seems to be a surprising number of people who think a train can be stopped dead immediately when the brakes are applied.

Apparently the car that was hit was fleeing the scene of an accident (new update on Newsday).

because it never occurred to the MTA/LIRR the POLS that having railroad tracks on street grade in a ever-growing population isn't a good thing.

Too much money 50 years ago when the elevated Babylon.

There is a infrastructure project that will employee thousands of Long Islanders, instead of building that stupid wall, but I digress.

Wasn't there a similar accident what 30-40 years ago in Williston Park which resulted in a road dug under the tracks.

When I lived in a Texas trains would go through crossings with dozens of cars. One can wait 20 minutes. Although I don’t agree with the concept of trying to beat a train, in that case I can understand it. I don’t understand risking your life (and the lives of others) to try and save maybe 30 seconds so you don’t have to wait for an LIRR train to pass.
