From early reports, sounds like kids (note: this is UNCONFIRMED). Tragic.
As for a pic of the car, fughedduboutit. Supposedly they could not identify the people OR the car due to the extent of the damage. The car was ground to a pulp between the two trains. Maybe they'll find the license plate in a day or two.
I see people racing the beat the crossing guards all the time and I just want to throw a brick right through their windshield. Everyone is in a hurry to get somewhere. It angers me because not only are they putting their lives in danger but more importantly they are putting other people's lives in danger.
Remember a few years ago when that stupid, irresponsible and entitled Yenta that caused the Metro North train crash: https://www.lohud.com/story/news/tra...ils/507783001/ ? She was responsible for the death of 5 other innocent people.
On top of that, this woman's widower had the audacity to sue the Metro North for negligence. I'm glad they proved that she was at fault and the victims should be looking to sue the Widower for his stupid wife's mistake.

Stupid SOB driver . I want the drivers name plastered all over the net and at each station showing a picture of the deceased driver before the crash and a picture of the burnt up car as a lesson to would-be light passers. Sorry no sympathy for the driver at all. Only sadness for the two innocent victims.
A pic of the disaster and a warning should be plastered at all LIRR stations. Better this than another liquor ad.
People also forget that train drivers and passengers are left traumatized for life after events like this.
When I lived in a Texas trains would go through crossings with dozens of cars. One can wait 20 minutes. Although I don’t agree with the concept of trying to beat a train, in that case I can understand it. I don’t understand risking your life (and the lives of others) to try and save maybe 30 seconds so you don’t have to wait for an LIRR train to pass.
