Funny how that happened.

This is not about Corona Virus anymore. Onto the next agenda.

There's the truth. Read it and weep. Sweden has not in any way "fared better."

The bolded figures you cite is your quote - you linked it to a Politico story that clearly identifies it as based upon a "PRELIMINARY FLASH ESTIMATE"you cannot understand it and continue to embarrass yourself. How many times must the same thing be pointed out to you to save you from yourself? Why don't you get someone to explain it to you? Or at least read it in full, probably for the first time.

FACT: Swedish people are dying at a much higher rate than their neighbors. The Swedish economy is "headed for its worst recession since World War II."

"Faring better?" No way!
Regarding their downturn...

Sweden has left shops, restaurants, gyms and schools open throughout the pandemic, while encouraging citizens to use common sense and observe distancing guidelines.

But the trade-reliant economy has been unable to withstand the global shock triggered by widespread lockdowns elsewhere.

“The economy will be constrained by the recovery in the rest of the continent given its dependence on external demand,” said David Oxley of Capital Economics.

About half Sweden’s GDP comes from exports, and some of its best known companies, such as Volvo Cars and Electrolux, have had to cut thousands of jobs as demand dries up.

“The new orders component of the manufacturing PMI is consistent with an eye-watering decline in export values in the second half of this year,” Oxley said.

So possibly not because of the virus but trading partners economic downturns.

My barber didn't yesterday. First haircut since March 7, from a new barber because Connecticut is open for haircuts, and not New York. Then again my barber was a Jew from Uzbekistan, cutting the hair of a fourth-generation (mostly) American Jew. We did discuss looting a nearby business, however.

Recent data showed the economic slowdown in Sweden in the first three months of 2020 was less extreme than elsewhere in Europe — a contraction of 0.3 percent versus 3.8 percent in the eurozone

How many times must you read your own links and not understand what they say?

Your second link to a Politico article, the one dated 5/18/20, the one in which the title is "Sweden Won't Dodge Economic Hit Despite COVID-19 Light Touch," the same one that shows the Swedish death rate as seven times that of neighboring Finland states:

"Recent data showed the economic slowdown in Sweden in the first three months of 2020 was less extreme than elsewhere in Europe — a contraction of 0.3 percent versus ...3.8 percent in the eurozone — but economists are bracing for a big hit."
The portion I have highlighted in red above is the same portion that was printed in blue in the original Politico article. That makes it a link which, when clicked, takes you right back to their article of April 30 where the statistics are clearly labelled as "preliminary flash estimate." (You have also linked to that article, possibly inadvertently.)

That is also in blue, linking back to the news release from Eurostat clearly labeled "Preliminary flash estimate for the first quarter of 2020," it is dated 30 April 2020 and is the source of all the statistics you have cited.

You may not care whether statistics are real or timely or from what sources as long as you believe they support your claims but people who want to understand exactly what they mean do and look for the source. You should try it sometime, or at least not use such statistics in an attempt to support a fallacious argument.

The Swedish economy expanded at a far superior rate than many of its European counterparts over the first three months of the year, data published Friday showed, following the government’s decision not to impose a full lockdown to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

The Nordic country’s statistics office reported gross domestic product (GDP), the broadest measure of economic health, grew at an annual rate of 0.4% in the first quarter.

Sweden’s GDP increased by 0.1% in the first quarter, when seasonally adjusted and compared to the final three months of 2019. The median forecasters in a Reuters poll of economists had expected to see a 0.6% contraction on a quarterly basis.

Now go scour the sublinks for something to desperately cling to but this data comes straight from the horse's mouth - Sweden's offical economic data accounts, Statistics Sweden.

GDP increased by 0.1 percent in the first quarter of 2020, seasonally adjusted and compared with the fourth quarter of 2019. This change was mainly driven by exports but was offset by household consumption. Calendar adjusted and compared with the first quarter of 2019, GDP increased by 0.4 percent.

From your source (emphasis added):
To date, Sweden has reported 35,727 cases of the coronavirus, with 4,266 deaths, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.

To be sure, Sweden has recorded more Covid-19 infections and fatalities than all its Nordic neighbors combined — Finland, Denmark, Norway and Iceland.

Data published by Our World in Data shows Sweden currently has the highest daily death rate per capita of any country across the globe. As of May 28, Sweden reported, on a rolling average over the last seven days, 5.5 deaths per million per day.

Speaking at a press briefing earlier this month, Dr. Michael Ryan, executive director of the World Health Organization’s health emergencies program, described the herd immunity strategy as a “really, really dangerous calculation.”

Ryan added it was wrong for countries to think that such an approach would “magically” make their populations immune.

Last month, Sweden’s central bank said the pandemic had damaged the country’s business and supply chains and warned many companies would be “hit hard,” with lots of people likely to lose their jobs over the coming months.

The National Institute of Economic Research, a respected think tank, said in a statement published April 29 that it believed Sweden’s economy would shrink 7% this year, with unemployment anticipated to rise to 10.2%.
Please indicate how any of this supports your contention that Sweden has "fared better."

So you're not willing to endorse the statement that Sweden has "fared better" either?
