Looks like there’s a 40 year old fence permit that’s open on my house. How do we close this? Will we need an inspection to close? Do they inspect for fences?

Long story but I opened a fence permit and cancelled it. TNH. I had to let them know I wanted it closed and they came to inspect that the fence was not there. They closed it out after inspecting.

Ugh so annoying. I was thinking perhaps an SOL would apply since it’s older than me.

This is interesting. If you call for them to come inspect to get a Certificate of Occupancy, will they hold you to the current standard or those from 40 years ago... the Building Department should be able to clarify. IMO, the fence should be held to the current standard. Granted, the standards for fencing likely haven't changed much. Are you planning to sell the house?
