He only has 6% in the polls so far - and just 6 months to improve to win the primary. It isn't happening.

Letitia James dropped out before her campaign even really began pretty shocking. I think she saw the writing on the wall as most of the donors and party hacks are lining up behind Hocul. I think this pretty much makes hocul the clear front runner in the primary, James was probably the only one that had a chance to take her down.

James was never going to win governor. Worse both she and Williams are from Brooklyn which meant a long (and maybe nasty) primary battle would have likely split that rich borough of progressive left liberal democrats. Hochul is counting upon and *needs* to win big downstate (NYC and Westchester) if she is to be governor.

Thus powers that be in democrat machine most surely sat James down and told her to knock it off. It's going to be a big enough haul getting first woman elected governor of NYS without it also being first coloured person as well. James was likely also told her AG seat is "safe" (or at least democrats assume it is), so she should wait four, or maybe eight years then make a run for top spot. It probably will be too late (James will be near or into her 70's by then), but you can't make an omelet without breaking some eggs.

Fully expect in next few weeks that Williams guy will also be sat down and told to clear out of it. Guy is an eejit who seems unable to pass up running for any and every open seat in NYC or NYS, this despite he just won current office.

Next is BdeB and his fools errand of running for governor. The man hasn't a snow ball's chance in Hades of winning primary (last poll he was dead last behind James and Williams...).

So now we're down to Tom Suozzi, who may be the only real threat to Hochul besides a viable GOP candidate (if republicans can find one...).

I wouldn't discount Suozzi out of hand just yet. If he can pull together upstate, LI, and some of Westchester and NYC could see him winning the primary. Much will depend upon several factors including how much of the woke, liberal, progressive socialist democrats turn out to vote in primary.

New Yorkers who would rather die than vote for GOP might be more open to a moderate democrat. Especially if city government keeps pulling nonsense like giving non-citizens right to vote in elections.

Tish is not coloured and coloured/colored is generally considered an outdated (and often offensive) reference to Blacks/African Americans in this country.
Coloureds in South Africa generally refers to those of mixed race...which Tish is not.

NJ & VA gov races this year plus local Republicans sweeping almost all races here on the Island have the Dem party scared and rightfully so. Kathy is an upstater who they hope can appeal to those folks but also may be able to appeal to the Nassau/Suffolk folks who aren't interested in a super progressive like Tish (although Kathy pretty much kowtows to them). Even Laura Curran, a moderate well-liked Dem lost her reelection campaign.
A viable middle of the road Republican candidate will have a good chance of competing in 2022 especially given that the midterms are almost always unfavorable to the party controlling the White House.

Not to mention there is no real incumbent in this election. Hochul has long since ditched any semblance of being a moderate, she’s done nothing but cater to the far left and this latest mask mandate move will only infuriate a huge portion of voters. I think the reason suozzi entered the race is because he sees a possible opening.

So ‘people of color’ (a very popular phrase on the left) are not to be described as colored people? (Except for NAACP.) Got it.

And, BTW white is most definitely a color so it is racist to exclude whites from the ‘persons of color’ category. I see this happen so often here in the US I think it is an example of institutional racism.

The NAACP was founded over 100 years when the term was en vogue. Similar to the United Negro College Fund. Such organizations haven't been renamed for obvious legacy reasons, but I am certain you are aware of that. Most people are aware that in 2021 you wouldn't refer to Blacks/African Americans as Negro or colored but you are certainly free to use whatever terms you like.

I mentioned it an outdated/offensive term here in the States to account for regional differences as the poster used the term coloured which typically applies to mixed race folks in South/Southern Africa (which is how the Apartheid South African gov't classified such people). And Tish is not coloured.

I don’t know shouldn’t they get with the times? Legacy terms are bad aren’t they?
