Finally. The wait is over. Likely more orgasmic than Whole Foods for many. Cult-like following.
Wegmans is by far better than any grocery store here on the Island, albeit I don't mind ShopRite.
Given its affluence of the Island, our grocery store selections are dismal. I believe unions have been a roadblock for Wegmans here.
I'm guessing this will be in the old Fairway across from SmithHaven Mall.
We have Wegman's here. I predict Long Islanders will not be impressed with the prepared foods. It's a grocery store but if you're from upstate NY or PA it is a way of life.

Agreed on the prepared food. Sadly, it actually looks somewhat appealing after moving to NJ, and seeing what passes for prepared food here!!

Gasp!!! I found ONE thing I miss about LI :-)
They do have a Wegmans in Montvale close to Rockland County, but I'm not sure how far you are from that location. They also have locations in Bridgewater, Cherry Hill, Hanover, Manalapan, Mt. Laurel, Ocean, Princeton and Woodbridge.

Pretty much, as the store is based in Rochester. However, the Albany area doesn't have any due to being where Price Chopper/Market 32 is based out of(Schenectady). Supposedly, there is some unwritten rule of not overlapping the stores too much, but areas like Syracuse and Binghamton have both. There's also Tops based out of the Buffalo area.
Anyway, Wegmans is "a thing" in much of Upstate NY and parts of PA.

I believe both are the 2 biggest locations in the chain, but don't quote me on that.
PFFT everyone wants a share of the market here in NC - the Wegman's by me is less than half a mile from a Harris Teeter, a Food Lion and a Walmart neighborhood store and about a mile from a Publix.
