Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced veterinarian in Nassau County to do a minor surgery (cyst) on our much loved family dog (6 year old yellow lab)?

The local vet wants about $1,000 to sedate her and remove and biopsy the cyst.

(yes, I've heard about the vet that charges when the cat looks at the patient - cat scan, and when the Labrador carries in the bill - lab work).

Thanks

Hi Peabody. Try Dr. Ratner in Island Park. She is wonderful - for both pets and people. She is beyond reasonable, especially when compared to other vets in the area.

Here is her website (* Animal Hospitals - Island Park, NY - Island Park Animal Hospital). Good luck to you and your pooch!

I don't know how far into Nassau you are, but I used a vet in Suffolk, Babylon Animal Hospital in Babylon, and had that exact same procedure done on my dog for approx $300

Vets are love/hate oppinions.
I had issues with Dr. Ratner. My old man has been using her forever and thinks she's great. She is very reasonable with prices though. I was using Dr. Gower in Oceanside for a while who appeared to be a good vet but was a rapist with prices. I've been using Crawford Animal Hospital in Lynbrook ever since they saved my labs life from some oddball kidney issue. He should be dead but they really went above and beyond diagnosing and treating him and he made a full recovery. Pricing seems reasonable especially for what they did.

You are aware that you have replied to a post that started in 2013 right? That dog is 15 now, if still alive.

LOL. Love it when new people post on an old thread without reading it first.

Stay far far away from Marino at li vets on the service rd in Plainview. My contacts at the dept of Ed report that this place has a rap sheet the size of a phone book with patient complaints , botched jobs, etc. You have been warned
