Mineola Specific - Long Island - New York (NY) - Page 2 - City-Data Forum

Just a moved in on the South Side of Mineola off of O.C.R in the Mott section of the town which is the southern most area. My neighbors could not be nicer, I have the Northern State, the Meadowbrook Pkwy and the L.I.R.R.. I have great deal of shopping very close by the house. I do have traffic on O.C.R but it does not bother me. I have driven through the town and am pleased with what I have seen. The town is close to the city and surrounded with fine towns that somewhat insulate you from problem areas. So far so good. My cousins also settled in Williston Park and Mineola and have been residents for a longer period of time than I. They are happy with the area as I am.

Can someone vouch for the area around Roosevelt Field...around Old Country Rd - between Mineola Blvd & Glen Cove Rd? There is an apartment complex there (Fairhaven) that I am considering to rent, but not too sure about the place. Does anyone have nay insights into the surrounding areas in terms of safety (primary concern)?

I think your biggest problem around there is going to be traffic!!!

Is it really that bad? I will need to drive up to Lake Success everyday, so I thought it wouldn't be more than 15-30 mins, even in bad traffic...but I may be wrong!
How good/bad is the area in general? Is it safe for my wife to walk around without me?
