Not bad a area at all. You know the routine...make sure its in East Islip school district. The only down side is that Central Islip borders to the north. It gets a little seedy around the border.

Yes, the part about CI I know. There are some good buys for a decent school district there, that would put my wife and I both less than 20 minutes from our jobs...right smack in the middle.

Stay away from Islip Terrace north side. [ and North great river]
Where ever you go in the Terrace make sure you drive around the area and stop by the high school when the kids get out.
The School taxes will KILL YOU Make sure you see a current tax bill before you buy. AND what deductions the current owner gets.
We live in EI north of main st. in a small cape, no children. Our school tax bill alone just went to
$4600.oo
You may also want to look in Islip.
Good luck

both e. islip and c. islip school taxes are very high, so that dont matter either way, but the e. islip district is of course much better. up and down connetquot ave is a pretty nice area, even when u get up into north great river and even c.i. East of connetquot ave in central islip is like completely different from the rest of it, theres alot of horse farms and such around there, but its still c.i. schools. The areas off of carlton ave. arent quite as nice, but still not too bad.

$4600 for taxes in E.I. is a steal, no matter what the house size. Be happy!

SCHOOL alone is $4600. OK you guys get it school only.
total Tax bill is just short of $8000.00 for a small cape, no pool, 1 car garage.
Gee lets vote to give the over paid EI teachers more this year.
