I've never had a problem with the raccoons in my garbage, but they love my neighbors. Perhaps it's because of the kitty litter I toss out in there.

Coyotes? Coyotes? Are you serious?
They'd never use 'em for deer control. They would multiply too quickly and become a nusiance. Deer usually don't attack and eat humans. Coyotes have been known to do that once in a while

Unfortunately, the Island is way too over-developed to reintroduce extinct species of animals, especially the larger ones. I'd love to watch a bear chase fish at conntequot river or wherever, that'd be cool. it would also be funny to be cruising down the LIE and see Bear "X-ing" signs...ha.
I'm really surprised the deer have lasted this long.

How about ticks, can we make them extinct?

I've seen snakes, box turtles, small frogs, bull frogs, a hawk, and rabbits (all in western Suffolk/Nassau), but never a lizard. I'll have to keep my eye out...

I live in Northport, and supposedly the local pond has giant turtles. I've heard after a rain storm they are out walking in the roads. In my backyard we get ducks(small ponds), rabbits, raccoons, turtles, and muskrats. I've seen swans in the large pond as well.

Anybody have turtles?
I never saw a Tiger Salamander unfortunately but occasionally I see the red backs.

Yea no kidding....all we got here s too many rude ppl. About 100 yrs or so ago we used to have Timber Rattlesnakes too. Its so unfortunate how much wildlife we lost. Cant we burn Wyandanch and turn into a giant oasis for nature..lol

Here's a photo I got of one, they are quite beautiful.
