gosh we are nowhere near that. In talking to my dh today, he is making less than he did two years ago. His take home pay last week was almost the same as i made 20 years ago as a nanny!!

Earning well under $250k... not even close. Anyone that buys into the fear mongering need change their source(s) of news.

The Middle Class really needs a raise on LI.

^^ I dont think the middle class needs a raise as much as things such as taxes, heating fuels & home prices need to be corrected. I will let you know after this recesssion if I need a raise or not.

I think the 250K is per household, and we have many 2-income households here. I do think when incomes are looked at wrt raising/lowering taxes, there should be regional considerations/cost of living calculations. My husband and I both work - we are nowhere near the 250K, but I've heard that we may not be getting as much of the $13 per paycheck, or whatever it is, because that "benefit" will start to be prorated at a certain level. In many areas of the country our salaries would make us look rich - here on LI we are very solidly middle-class.
