Hi everyone, I found this house in oyster bay cove with a zipcode of 11791. Isn't it the syosset zipcode? The house is on the border of syosset and oyster bay cove..(rodeo dr). I am wondering if this house is really in the oyster bay cove village or is it actually in syosset?!
I want to make an offer of this house but for that price I want to make sure that the house is in the best area. Please help!!!!!!!

Yes, "11791" is the "Syosset, NY" ZIP Code.

These places with a "Syosset, NY 11791" mailing address that are not in the Hamlet of Syosset are in the Village of Muttontown, the Village of Oyster Bay Cove and the Village of Laurel Hollow; and, at the same time, there are places that are in the Hamlet of Syosset that have a "Jericho, NY 11753" mailing address.

Bear in mind, Oyster Bay Cove is one of those many villages and hamlets on Long Island where none of the places in the community have the village name in their mailing address: places in the Village of Oyster Bay Cove have an "Oyster Bay, NY 11771", "East Norwich, NY 11732" and "Syosset, NY 11791" mailing address.

On LI, You Ain't Where You Think You Are, rev. 1 may help you understand the great geographic confusions caused by non-conforming ZIP Code postal zones.

You can find out in which community (city, village or CDP) that house is actually located, which is oftentimes different from the community named in that house's mailing address, by using the Census Bureau's online address search function. (CDP or Census Designated Place is the Census Bureau equivalent for a hamlet in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.)

And, very importantly, among other things, the Census Bureau's online address search function also indicates in which school district an address is located.

It is the Syosset zip code, but zip codes don't always match community borders. It appears that Rodeo Drive is in both Syosset and Oyster Bay Cove (with the lower numbers in Syosset), but go to mynassauproperty.com and punch in the address to find out if its in Syosset or Oyster Bay Cove. Regardless if its technically Oyster Bay Cove or Syosset its an excellent area and really should have no baring on if you should make an offer or not. The only real difference is how some of the taxes are paid, some of the services that are provided by the Town of Oyster Bay in Syosset are instead provided by the village of Oyster Bay Cove in Oyster Bay Cove.

Don't worry about the zip, you're in a nice area.
