Looking for travel times from those who commute the route from 347 @ Nicolls to NSP to Park Ave north to 25A at about 7 am. Would need to be at 25a and Park Ave at no later than 7.45 am. What time would I have to leave stony brook to get there on time?
less specifically: commute time from 347 @ nicolls to NSP exit 42 north around 7 am also appreciated.

30 minutes, give or take. You might consider just taking 25a the whole way there.
A third vote for taking 25A. Don't deal with 347/NSP that time of day. Also, make a right on edgewood (after the pumpkin farm with the witch in St James before the train tressel) to avoid Main Street in Smithown and save yourself a ton of headaches.
wow, those times seem optimistic to me. I drive from Huntington (Park/25A) to St James every morning and it takes me 35 minutes going east against traffic on NSP/347 to 111 north to 25A to St James. Going home on 25A in evenings takes 40 minutes. I would assume it would take substantially longer going with traffic than I'm experiencing going against traffic based on the traffic I see heading the other way.
Looking for times from actual people doing this drive...thanks
I was driving Kings Park (Church St @ 25A) to Stony Brook (LIRR) at 5:05 PM every Monday evening for the better part of last year. It took between 25-28 mins.
Leaving Setauket @ 3:30 PM -- little to no traffic saved for a school bus discharging students -- the ride from Setauket (Main St & 25A) to Kings Park (Church St & 25A) was 25-30 mins.
I also recommend 25A over 347 at that time in the morning and as superfly10 suggested, use Edgewood to bypass downtown Smithtown. Also -- from Edgewood turn right onto Landing and take that down to Rose (by the Smithtown Landing CC) and turn left. That will end at the intersection of St Johnland and 25A. Continue straight and you're back on 25A, having missed all of 25A and lights in downtown Smithtown.
In the morning I would give 50 mins to start out until you have the traffic patterns down.

Definitely the best route to take! Your travel time will largely depend on the time of day; earlier is better, of course. I agree with OhBeeHave to start off with 50 min and see where that takes you.
I am going with Zilla and OBH.... minimum 45-50 minutes.... and you are at the Nassau/Suffolk border !!
Commute sucks on Long Island.
347 is by far the worst QOL issue the 3v area has to contend with.It would be a total deal breaker for me at present.I really hope they get the corridor corrected quickly because Stony Brook is a great place to live.Brookhaven REALLY screwed the pooch on that one.
(JJ LaValle can ya hear me?)
I'm wondering if it makes sense with the overpass now to go Nicolls/LIE/Sag to KP 25a to HV?
