I need Hollywood friends (Los Angeles, La Mirada: low income, apartments, to rent)

I am 22 and plan on moving to LA in March. I am going to attend Le Cordon Bleu (hollywood) and I need help not only finding a room share but also getting familiar with the area. So far I found two places but need advice about the area. Are they safe? Are they nice?
1: 6212 La Mirada Ave #101
2. 1743 N HUDSON AVE

Any advice/ opinions are welcomed. Oh and if you have opinions about the school too I would be very thankful.

Both are fairly safe, nice, happening areas. I had a friend who lived about a block from the La Mirada apartments. That area has a nice mix of young people and older immigrants. I don't think it's the safest part of town but it's not too bad, just don't go too far south. It's nice and green during the day.

The Dorms are in a safer and more social/walkable area, so I might go with there if you can afford it. Then again I don't know much about the actual complexes so I'm only talking area.

Mix of sketch and not sketch and it literally varies building to building, rather than street by street.

Typical Hollywood and its neither particularly safe nor unsafe. I wouldn't recommend that area to any city data poster looking for a "safe" area. OTOH, I could deal with living there but understanding that its a very urban neighborhood. The most frequent crimes are car break ins and lots of tranvestite prostitutes.

This is better than the La Mirada address but still has most of the same issues. No prostitution in the area, but more drug activity. Still a better neighborhood. But do a google search of the address and check out the street view via google maps. Lots of bars on windows in both locations.

BTW, you should not post exact addresses, letting people know where you might be living. Just post "the 1700 block of north Hudson Ave in Hollywood".

My budget is no more than 700. Granted I don't expect to rent my own place so I thought
700 would be a good price for a room share. I looked on craigslist but everything seems
to be more than 1000. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong areas. Idk...

there is a place downtown depending on your income you can get a place for under $700 they start at $575

Being new to a place can be a pretty downer. But keep optimistic and you shall find what you seek. Don't let other detractors get into you. I have friend in LA whose gf went and graduated in that school too , when I get a word I can ask about the school and post it back here.
