Is downtown L.A. turning into the Las Vegas strip? A debate over flashing lights | L.A. NOW | Los Angeles Times

Seriously what's with the people in this city complaining about lighting up the LA skyline? It's about time downtown LA gets its due. With this along with the proposed downtown LA streetcar and football stadium, it has the opportunity to become a very vibrant and urban place.

That would be ironic: Vegas got their 'strip' idea from our Sunset Strip. They even ripped off our "Miracle Mile" so that they could use it for a new mall. Blecch.

But I digress. Flashing lights don't bother me, but if you live in that area it might get on your nerves just a tad.

Wow! I was born and lived in L.A. most of my life, til I was 45, And never knew this! Its nice to know that something actually originated in the city that people love to call fake. I guess you never stop learning. Thanks Nick!
