Man, please, nashville is about as big as Long Beach. A cupcake, compared to LA.

I prefer the metrosexual. Give me Brad Pitt any day over Garth Brooks.

What makes a man "manly"? It is so subjective...the men I have met in Los Angeles who have families are doing whatever it takes to provide for their families. Personally, I consider that pretty manly. Then again I might be in the minority on this one, who knows.

That is part of it.
This is some more, but certainly not all
Manly men:
do not wear pants so their underwear is showing
do not use foul language in public or in front of children or women
respect other people
do not commit crimes
can think for themselves; dont follow the herd just because it's cool
have manners
do not objectify women
unless they have some major medical/physical problem they do not live off government welfare
do not hit women
take care of what they own so it does not become a blight in theircommunity

What if it was in self-defense?

@West Encino, not acceptable.

Anyway, I agree with that list accept the foul language thing, too much of a gray area. Especially since in certain industries it is the norm. I work in the entertainment industry and the women and men at least in my office cuss like sailors, its part of the culture.

I have found that every office I have worked at in SoCal has been very liberal as far as what you can and cannot say, and people take advantage. I am completely fine with it as I am one of them and when all is said and done they are just words.

Encino,
My list is general, obviously as you have found there may be exceptions such as hitting a woman.
Perhaps cussing may be part of a culture in certain workplaces, that doesn't mean that someone cant control himself and refrain from it. I lived in a frathouse for a year(never again) 99% of the boys there cussed. Some boys didnt cuss. It was not mandatory.

Add this to my list:
Being Manly is doing the right thing when others do not.
