you are right new york is almost as bad except new york has a richer history better fire and police departments had rudy giuliani (great mayor) and new yorkers actually have some sense of pride

And in case you haven't noticed (via some of the responses in this thread, boosterism throughout the forum, etc), LA does too. If there was no pride in the place, most of the natives would have fled, and there wouldn't be any starry-eyed transplants.

When the appropriate time comes, you are free to leave Southern California in your rear-view mirror, I myself left at 20, and came to realize that everywhere else is just like everywhere else.

We have enough LA-bashing threads already, the fact that "LA is awful" in your opinion does nothing to help further the discussion of how to live well in LA, nor does it help any future relocatees.
