My son will be attending school in Pasadena and would love some rental area options for studio apartments. I haven't a clue where to begin and honestly don't much about California. Are there any particular areas that would be decent and relatively safe place to live for a 19 year old? How much do studio apartments rent for? Any advise and info would be great.

Pasadena has many good options but you might want to state what your son's approx. monthly budget for housing will be.....???

I was trying to find out what the minimum cost would be in a decent neighborhood for a studio. He would rather not share the apartment with other students and live alone but he is trying to figure out if it's financially possible. He will be going to school at LAMA located 370 South Fair Oaks Ave. Is under $1,000 a month for a small studio possible in Pasadena or outside of the immediate area? I would love to have recommendations of some areas to look into. He is going for a visit next month and wants to drive around to get to know the area and see what his options are.

I think it's hard but not impossible to find that but I've not been in the rental market for a while now.

I would stick to areas like Pasadena (anywhere south of the 210 Freeway is very safe), South Pasadena, Glendale and Alhambra. All of these are independent cities within Los Angeles County in the general area. All have good reputations to varying degrees.
