It is 2012 though, camera phones > cameras.

And yep...Seh-pul-VEEEE-duh is an obvious sign of a tourist or transplant. Same with "Wil-shy-yurr"

Thanks for all your answers!
I will give it a try then, and go for a drive around the different LA neighbourhoods..

Know it might sound weird, BUT it won't be the only things I will see, while in Los Angeles. I have also planned to go see Malibu, Santa Monica Pier, Venice Beach, Farmers Market + The Grove, Beverly Hills, Graumans Theater + Hollywood Walk of Fame, Universal Studio, Griffith Observatory by night, Mulholland Drive, Koreatown, Chinatown + Downtown, and also some more movie locations:
Walsh house from Beverly Hills 90210 (it's in Altadena), the house (exterior) from Melrose Place (in Los Feliz), the house from Karate Kid (in Van Nuys), Ray Pruits house from 90210 (in Van Nuys), the house from Freddy Krueger (close to Hollywood) and the house from the old Halloween films (also close to Hollywood), the High School from 90210 (in Torrance).

..But I don't think there's any need for some extra precautions related to those place ;-)

So I will of course visit the usual tourist places, but won't limit myself to only those. I want to see as much as possible, and by chosen some known locations from films, I guess that will take me different neighbourhoods and hence different experiences. And don't worry, I have several days to cover all of the above :-)

Once again thanks for your help..! and if you should have some more suggestions or advice, I would be glad.

While you're driving around the 'hood, if you see a Roscoe's House of Chicken & Waffles and/or Bludsoe's BBQ, stop in and have a bite.

As long as you'll be in ELA, may I suggest Birrieria Chalio? It specializes in birria, which is a delicious type of goat stew.

But if that is your thing, go for it. Maybe your kid will get a shirt that says "My Daddy Went To South Central And All I Got Was This Bullet Riddled Bloody Shirt".
Wouldn't you suggest wearing a red bandana to let the locals know your a tourist.

Thanks
Don't forget Phillipe's French Dip and the King Eddy Saloon in downtown.
