Years & years & years ago I lived with 2 roommates. At one point we had a three bedroom & split things three ways even though all bedrooms were not equal.

Then we moved to a 2 bedroom. I took the small second bedroom & they shared the very large main bedroom. They were two heterosexual females (saying so just because I think it is a different thing for a couple to have to share a bedroom than it is for two singles). We still split rent evenly three ways. I think even if 2 of us were splitting a small bedroom we still would have split it evenly in threes.

I don't think there is anything selfish about that. It is what we thought was right, good, & fair. Not one of us could have afforded to pay a larger portion. We roomed together to have a nicer place.

I think that it is reasonable for you to want to split it evenly three ways & also reasonable that you'd do a modified split where they pay something like $1250 of a $2000 rent. Or to make some more exact decision according to square footage of bedroom size. Whatever works for you. I do think they should pay more than just 1/2 the rent though.

Just my 50 cents worth
