Even if their is something mildly interesting to do on one part of LA county you have got to drive 30 minutes to the other. LAME. I have lived here all my life and cant wait to go to another city. I plan on San Francisco or New York and maybe Vegas. Anyone else feel the same.

Just a second while I laugh...

Ok.

I think that if you like doing stuff outdoors like running, hiking, biking, surfing,...whatever, then LA is much more fun. It's fun even if you don't but you're missing a big part of what many people like about it.

LA is all about knowing where to go. You can't just walk down the street and expect to stumble upon interesting stores and restaurants and bars. This can be kind of disappointing because you can't just casually explore as much as in other more walkable cities. You have to do research and talk to people and ask around. Once you know where to go, there's a lot of cool places and it's just like any other big city, and a lot of places are glitzier than other more old-school cities in a nice casual way.

Also someone named long beach finest doesn't know about Belmont Shores? Very walkable. Very fun to go to a bar then eat a bunch of sushi then go to more bars.

Not necessarily. There are still many more free or cheap options for entertainment than most other cities. The only thing that LA is more expensive than cities in between the coasts is rent/housing. And then you just get roommates. Have a closet sized apartment? Who cares, theres so much to do, it really doesn't matter. Gas is a little more expensive here to than in other areas but then you just carpool with people, or you take public transit when possible (the one area where LA is a little behind other cities).

OP: If you judge LA on the Santa Monica Pier and Universal Studios as the two things to do in LA, then the problem is you, not LA.
