Is Koreatown a safe neighborhood, especially at night?

Its a big area in a big city. People don't generally walk around late at night. Anything more specific?

Checking in from south of Wilshire Blvd (San Marino and Serrano...so 4 blocks south). It's fine.

I love our block. You can walk to hundreds of restaurants and coffee shops, 3 grocery stores, the Wiltern theater (just rated 14th best concert venue in the country by Complex magazine), and the Wilshire/Western metro station. Everyone has a dog, so our pup meets plenty of friends when we walk her. The neighborhood is extremely multicultural, and everyone is friendly and gets along for the most part. The architecture is some of the best in LA- a ton of prewar stuff- with especially nice specimens of deco and streamline. And the views of downtown and the rest of the basin are some of the best in the city, in my opinion. I took these from my rooftop over the past year:

Nice photos. I agree Koreatown does have a lot of appeal .

This is some crime data regarding safety

You can also compare it to different areas.

It can be a little sketchy at night in some areas. I often come from the westside and onto Vermont to go to king Taco on Pico late at night. I pass through a decent chunk of Koreatown and it seems fine to me. There are a lot of people walking the streets late at night but as long as you're alert and paying attention I'm sure you'd be fine. As other have said, the further North you go the nicer it gets.

That stretch of Vermont always seems more sketch than the rest of K-town to me. I'm there in the evening sometimes to pick up take-out from Vim Thai/Chinese restaurant (so good!) and I definitely have my guard up there. There tends to be a cruiser parked outside Ocho quite a bit, which makes me feel better.

I'm not sure the further north you go the better it is. Streets like Western, Normandie, and Vermont are arguably worse by 3rd/Beverly/Santa Monica than Wilshire or Olympic.
