I'll be working in the city of Covina for at least the next year close to the streets E Cypress Street & N Glendora Ave. I don't know anything about the city. Are there any nice shopping malls or other shopping areas closeby? (I already know about the West Covina Mall.)

It's fine, you'll find everything you need. They're called 'bedroom communities' for a reason, that being, that's where people live, and if so, you'll find everything you need. And if you're lucky enough to get a municipal job, then why waste your time/energy commuting? Live where you work, Covina is good place to live...

I spent the majority of my life in Covina before getting a job in the city and moving closer to work. My dad was also a police officer there for a number of years. I'll throw in my two cents.

- The nicest parts of town are on the east side, especially in covina hills that borders via verde. Though i would say anything east of Citrus or Barranca Ave is nice. It gets nicer the further east you go towards San Dimas.
- Crime is relatively low but there is some riff raff primarily on the western parts of town that border Azusa and West Covina. I would steer clear of those areas completely.
- To the North you have Glendora which is a lovely community. I generally go there for fast food and restaurants as the east side of Covina doesn't have a lot to offer in the way of shopping. Love the golf course/driving range on Glendora ave.
- For mall shopping avoid the West Covina Mall. While recently renovated, the crowd there leaves a lot to be desired. I always drove to the Arcadia or Fullerton malls for my shopping.

Good food in the revitalizing Downtown Covina... some more food up a bit more north near Azusa Pacific University.

From your other posts, it seems like you live in Rancho Cucamonga.

You can take the Metrolink to Downtown Covina. Don't know how far your workplace is from the station, though.
