Does anyone know what the estimated trip times will be for a trip from Long Beach to Montclair and Ontario? I'm guessing it might be as long as three hours. Will people actually use it for these trips?

Im sure it wont be common to go from one end to the other but its still a great line and Im sure many will use it for going in-between and it connects to the metro system at large. I dont think its common for people to go from LB to montclair or vice versa by any means but lines arent just about one end to the other

The line will eventually connect Long Beach to the Ontario airport. Is this the best transit option for people in Long Beach who want to fly out of Ontario?

Is there any possibility that Metro will add an express track to the Blue Line?

That will be one looooooooong line (might be longer than some Metrolink lines?!?)

I think that MTA will short-turn some of the trains, especially during rush hours. As part of the Regional Connector project (which will enable the Blue Line to get to Montclair), there will be a pocket track north of the 7th St/Metro Center station, which could be used. Also some trains may turn back at Union Station (arrive at station, discharge passengers, then pull into the current Gold Line yard for storage (I think there will be a yard in Irwindale, or somewhere near there, which will serve the trains on that line, as well as the current yard in north Long Beach, so the current Gold Line yard may be storage only)

Better to extend the Green Line into Ontario and bypass DTLA with one transfer. There's nothing transverse between Downey and Ontario. All lines go directly east-west. If they end up building a stadium in the City of Industry it would serve as a major transit option for the whole east, southeast and south sections of the metro.

?

There's an airport in Long Beach and if commuting by metro, LAX is a LOT closer than Ontario. No clue why someone in Long Beach would fly out of Ontario

Metro rep says that most likely some trains won't go the full route from DTLA to Azusa when the Foothill Extension opens (2015ish). The reason is "to protect the ridership"... meaning to make sure people taking the train from Sierra Madre Villa westward to DTLA will get seats or standing room.

For example, some will go from DTLA to Sierra Madre Villa, and some will go from DTLA to Azusa.

Once the Regional Connector opens (2019ish), I am guessing that on the Long Beach end, most trains will go LB to DTLA, a few LB to Sierra Madre Villa, and a few LB to Azusa.

Makes sense.

And yeah, you are crazy if you want to fly out of Ontario but live in Long Beach. Unless the tickets were way cheaper, doesn't see worth it.

I found this at MTA news page "The Source"

"If completed, the Gold Line could eventually run all the way from Montclair to downtown Los Angeles and then to Long Beach via the Regional Connector project (not to mention the other leg of the Gold Line from Union Station to East L.A. and eventually either South El Monte or Whittier). The trip from Montclair to Old Town Pasadena is estimated to take about 40 minutes — it would be an alternative to the increasingly congested 210 freeway. The trip from Montclair to downtown Los Angeles about 64 to 70 minutes depending on the station in downtown."

Currently the Blue Line takes about 1 hour from Long Beach to 7th/Metro. So add another 70 minutes and youll be in Montclair.

Again, why would anybody want to do that?
