As you are aware, I moved from my hometown to LA. While I have had conflicted views on how I like LA as a city/place to live, I never thought moving to LA would change my life.

I am making it out here, IMO. Found a job in less than a week, got promoted in less than 3 months. But my reasons for leaving LA is to simply change the state of play. My short-term goals are far different than they were when I was living in a Florida town I just couldn't wait to leave. While I could continue to settle down in LA, and that certainly crossed my mind, I was not happy with the direction I would ultimately be going in.

So LA was a necessary move for me. And while I did intend to be here for at least a few years, instead it has served as a stepping stone.

Although I do agree that many people tend to move to LA but later on leave. Many people move here to get into Hollywood, and move back home because it wasn't working out. I think the people who end up staying in LA are the ones who move here because it's a great place to live. But at least in my case, LA had nothing to do with it. Although I'm sure it at least influenced my decision a tiny amount.

Where pray tell are these "lots of jobs" you speak of?

They certainly weren't there in 2012 and before.

IMO, the beach is only special if you can walk to it, so less that 1/2 mile ideally.
Most people have so many things to do during the week that going to the beach is pretty much a weekend only thing anyway. (And that includes people who live ON the beach.)

Also, living within 30 miles of the beach has big benefits. The climate is moderated, not too hot in summer and not to cold in winter.

I don't know.

I bounce back and forth between NYC and LA regularly.

Neither are perfect, but if you hate it, it's possible it's just not FOR you...

...but it's also VERY possible that financial issues are making it difficult to really enjoy LA in the way that it can be.

I have a lot of interests, and LA allows me to indulge in my interests...

...and I don't care about LA's weather and outdoors. I'm an indoors person, and LA still has sooooooo much to do relative to my interests.

Also, the women in LA .....

....let's just say I'm very happy to be single.

For every one person who prefers midwest/east coast weather over LA weather there are at least 69 who like it the other way around.
The best thing about preferences is: there is NO right or wrong. People simply like what they like, no matter how many other people do or don't.

I do personally concur with your preference, however. I'd take year long nice weather over east coast fall/winter weather, anyday, no matter how old it gets.

I would love to live in an environment with 24 hour sunshine 365 days of the year. Seems like paradise.
Do they really relocate, based on the number of unemployed people here, people would rather be unemployed here than employed or unemployed in another state. I'm not talking about %, I'm talking about the quantity of job and quantity of people. Of 100% of the Population, what % do you think choose not to work , or finds that unemployment is better than a lower paying employment position. It is a rhetorical question.

LA does NOT get 24 hour sunshine 365 days of the year.

First off, that would be astronomically impossible, the earth would have to stop rotating. ven

But even if you meant 12 hours of sunshine, we still absolutely don't have that. If we did we wouldn't have scrub/chaparral, live oak woodland, and permament streams that flow all or most of the year. The 3-4 months of rain, and the fog that ties SoCal over for the next eight months is necessary, otherwise coastside SoCal would look like the Sahara or Arabian peninsula.

In any case, I moved here, close to two years ago, I love it, and have no plans on moving any time in the near, foreseeable future. Although I certainly have been here long enough to understand why many would feel differently. It just depends on what one wants.
