Hey,
So I'll be going to CSUNorthridge, and thinking of living in Santa Monica.

What would the morning commute be like? 30mins? 20? 40?
How about the evening?
Thanks!

If you can get on the 405N without the using the 10, the drive will be fast, there is a big variable getting onto the freeway from areas of Santa Monica. Coming back traffic will be slow from 3-7pm. The construction isn't helping. You could do it 30 minutes , but plan for an hour , if you get their early you have extra time to study, there is nothing wrong with being early. There is also a carpool lane which you'll find more benefit southbound versus northbound. Some cars get to use these lanes even when not carpooling.

Don't do it. Don't even think about it.

Live near CSUN. Near meaning biking distance. Traffic and parking even near CSUN will burn you out.

You could test by using Topanga Canyon.

Not sure Topanga canyon is a great idea since it's not close to most parts of SM.

Back in the day this commute would be 20-25 min. But now ti's going to be closer to 40-45. If you're lucky, 30.

Still better than the reverse. What part of SM are you in? If you can taken Wilshire or Sunset to the 405 N, that's best. The 405 N is still pretty free in the AM as long as you're north of the 10.

Coming back, the 405 S to about Sunset is usually pretty good.
