Do all the research you can before you move but keep in mind that getting a job in this industry isn't an easy thing and if you're trying to get it before you move it's even harder. If it's possible, stay with your cousins for a few months while you pound the pavement until you get someone to hire you and can move into your own place.

Good Luck!

So you want to be in the movies some advice from the wise.
Do you know what a Red One is?? if not!!
First go to a good film school like the Met Film School in London get a BA in Digital Cinematography.
Then go to The British Film School and do an MA.
Make several short films.
Move to LA and become the second assistant to the studio cat.
Several years later you will wake up one morning and realize you are in the Movie Business.

What exactly is a "red one"? Is that like code for when an actress is having her period?

Production grunt work is a good way to start. Also, you might want to consider immersing yourself in the technology side of things - there are support services, niche tech solution providers, etc, scattered around the Southland.

Think of all the people graduating from film school in the US and people all over the world that wants to come to LA to get into the film industry. Thousands and thousands weekly, daily. We're one of them. Graduated film school last December, no job yet in ANY field of the industry. May have to intern again to get the foot in the door. Good luck tho, sometimes being in the right place at the right time... Hold onto your dreams, we'll see how ours go.
