Some maps say the intersection of Rosemead & Colorado Blvd. is a part of Arcadia.
Others say it's a part of Pasadena. I looked up the Big 5 store on that corner and it's in Pasadena.

Which is it??

Neither. It's an unincorporated area of LA County called East Pasadena.

It's an odd border. To see the exact boundaries, check out this map: City of Pasadena

As Hyperion points out, the areas west of rosemead, north of Huntington, but outside the city limits is unincorporated east Pasadena.. though you still write Pasadena on your mailing address.

Of that unincorporated area, the area south of Del Mar is known as Chapman Woods. A fantastic little neighborhood with homes ranging in the $600k up to $3-4M.

Yes. You would tell anyone you live in Pasadena, not East Pasadena. And then the neighborhood would be East Pasadena/ Chapman Woods.

It is not like living in Altadena which an actual a "town" versus a census designated place.

To RobertPasa-

My Pasadena peeps are correct. While you would have a Pasadena address, you would technically live in Los Angeles. The cool thing about this, is that you don't need to get one of those annoying Certificates of Occupancy required by the City of Pasadena to move into your house--been there, done that. Ugh.

To HyperionGap-

We signed docs this past Sunday. The buyers of our house are supposed to sign this afternoon. Our agent still thinks we'll close by 4/17, but I'm not so sure.

All of our contractors know that they're on standby until I get word of recording. Luckily, they're cool with it. As for me, I've been calling dumpster companies, roofers and arborists. It's amazing to me how wildly estimates can vary for the same services.

It's a MAJOR fixer. We won't have the necessary exterior work done until August, though. When it's done, I'll definitely post pics.
