Toss in the falling fertility rates among Hispanic females on top of the fact that net immigration has slowed to a crawl and you can see why California isn't expect ed to reach 50,000,000 in population for another three-plus decades.

Then there's the below-replacement birth rate as reported by Dowell Myers and others @ UDC, on top of a rapidly aging population statewide--think The Golden Girls as opposed to Beach Blanket Bingo!

A flaw in these studies is the assumption "latinos' birthrates are X and they will be X 10 years from now."

This completely ignores generational realities.

The arriving generation has the high birthrate but the next one typically drops like a rock.

And the new arrivals really slowed down about 9 years ago.

Correct. As states go, we are already an aging state. In coastal counties we are ancient.

I really do think with the new administration in the next term that immigration policy etc will change a whole lot.

Will change a whole lot more.

In spite of much negativity in so called "conservative media" deportations have never been higher than they are right now.

It is clear that some things tolerated prior to the 21st century are no longer deemed acceptable practices, and as the US matures, we become more like many other countries, who pay more attention to their borders and to the goings on of those who are neither citizens nor permanent residents.

It ain't funny. Don't group legals immigrants with illegal ones. I find it very offensive. You love illegals? Then why don't you open your house to them and pay for their hospitality?
