I'm possibly getting a new job in Wilmington.

I was wondering if anyone can help me out with where to stay. #1 I will need a temporary stay for a few weeks. #2 If everything works out I'll need to find a long term.

What areas should I look into? Is Wilmington a good area? What other areas would u recommend that is a short commute?

What's the average rent? Ideally i'd like a studio or 1br but roommate is optional too.

Any good websites for searching for housing?

Any other info regarding the area? I don't know anything about it. What's there to do nearby?

Wilmington itself is not the greatest place to live. What's your budget? Suburban neighborhood? Urban neighborhood?

You'll definitely have to consider a roommate for that budget. I suggest looking a coastal Long Beach. Stay near the coast there. Once you go inland it gets more dangerous. Try Torrance as well. San Pedro is okay and will be a very short commute. It's not the most vibrant or the safest place, but it's not dangerous per se and not that suburban. Could be a good balance of short commute and at least some bars and restaurants.

Definitely don't recommend living in Wilmington if you can help it. A roommate is probably your best bet. For $1,000/month you could share a nice 2-BR condo in a decent area in Lomita or maybe even Torrance.
