This is unfortunate, but can say I'm surprised. They have a location at the base of my office building and there's rarely anyone in there. Even when that location does have visitors, they look to be checking out the prices and leaving--presumably to go online and price shop, where they can order from out of state and pay no sales tax.

I wonder if those Sports Chalet license plate holders will become more valuable.
I could see some future hipsters putting them on their cars ironically

Seeing one of those Sports Chalet license plate frames is always a "Hey, I guess I am back home!" moment for me when I go back to visit Los Angeles. I can't think of another sports retailer that even offers license plate frames.

Did people actually buy those ? Or would they give them free with purchase ?

^^ Re: the article, I agree with the issue about service. Yes, the staff at Sport Chalet was "pleasant enough," but at least in the store near us, most of them were busy chatting with each other and you had to drag them away from their conversations with their coworkers just to find a running shoe in the right size.

Reminds me of the electronics store Frys , they always have a bunch of staff but it seems more like too .
It has a similar feel to a car lot .
I don't know how they stay in business as the stores aren't really pleasant , prices are usually higher than online and they seem to have a lot more employees versus customers ..
