In regards to officially named enclaves, such as Little Tokyo, Little Armenia, etc., how many are there altogether in L.A.?

You can add Chinatown, Thai Town, Little Bangledesh, and Historic Filipinotown.

Little india in Artesia, Little Tokyo, little armenia, historic filipino town, Pico-Union Central American Historic District, Koreatown, Chinatown, Sawtelle Japantown, Cambodia town in Long Beach, if you count the San Gabriel valley it's basically a giant enclave of asian-americans the biggest in the united states with amazing food. Those are the official ones. Then there are those neighborhoods that aren't officially enclaves but are majority Latino, or majority black.

You missed Little Bangladesh squeezed between Koreatown and Historic Filipinotown. On the southern edge of Filipinotown you see as many Korean signs as you do shops aimed at Filipinos.

Can these really be ethnic nabes if the people living there are not pre-dominantly of that particular race?

Like do most folks in Little Tokyo, Koreatown, or even Filipinotown, those races?

Is it like the San Gabriel Valley, or the mexican and black sides of town where everyone is homogenous practically? Or do you see a good mix of people?

Uh, yes. Koreatown is the largest Koreatown in the USA and it's majority Hispanic. I don't know anybody including hispanics who would claim that it's not a korean neighborhood. Same thing with Little Armenia. I'm pretty sure East Hollywood, which includes Thai Town and Little Armenia is majority Hispanic as well.

Little Eithopia on Fairfax is very mixed...leans towards white, but I don't think anybody would bat an eye if you claimed it to be an Ethiopian neighborhood.

I'm sure there are many more communities like that, LA county is huge.

See this right here? This is why I don't like transplants.
