What do they do in Texas?

What measures do you think would make LA less attractive for these types? Sounds good in theory, just curious what you have in mind...

That's the problem - I don't have anything in mind. That's why I'm saying it's not super likely to happen.

The un-PC version has already been voiced - make it dangerous to be homeless in L.A., but no governmental agency will sanction such a measure.

I understand the issue of homelessness to be very complex, and get the impression people grow exhausted from trying to wrap their heads around it. In my opinion, a number of small measures should be put in place in attempt to trip the dominoes.

An example would be enforcing encampment laws. If the homeless set up a tent and occupy it for more than two days, PD would remove the tent and keep it in a central holding cell where the person can retrieve it. Key word here is enforcement. Just an actionable idea.

How about stop allowing them to build TENT CITIES on the side of streets/roads/overpasses. It is very visible to anyone that can see it. This city has a homeless problem because they choose to do nothing about it but keep encouraging them and giving out free benefits to them.

What the poster said about having concealed carry is when the people that are on drugs and are homeless accost people for money and in some instances kill them. They can use the gun to shoot and kill the homeless person. Just look at that woman who took a picture of a homeless guy down on Hollywood Blvd a couple years ago, she ended up dead because she didn't want to pay his "fee" for the picture. As it stands here in LA County is next to impossible to obtain a CCW license unless you are one of the "Connected People".

Not a bad move. The bleeding hearts would crap bricks, but it might actually help.

The situation you're describing would occur once, maybe twice a year. If that.

You're assuming a lot with this scenario:

- There would be enough people concerned with violent homeless people who would get concealed guns
- The one violent homeless person would attack the very person who got the concealed gun
- The person would actually shoot to kill

It's a percentage of a percentage of a percentage kind of situation.

A law allowing concealed carry isn't automatically going to arm everyone.

So how would allowing CC fix that situation? Would you expect that woman to have carried a gun? A bystander with a gun jumping to her defense and shooting someone? It's really easy to be the armchair gunner...
