Gee, the 129381297301982 thread on this same exact topic!

Look, rather than come here and post all surprised, why not just read one of the bazillions of prior threads on how crappy skid row is and instantly make yourself less ignorant.

Let's be honest, skid row is such a blatant and obvious failure of "progressive" democrat policies, it deserves a few more threads of discussion and examination.

Really Along the 5?? it was very clear what you meant. Saying Bums are attracted to snowless winters is not the same as saying unfortunate members of society without housing, transients and sometimes bums are attracted to snowless winters.

Right-wingers love to project, don't they?

Homelessness in America exploded under Ronald Reagan - - as president he basically eliminated services for people struggling with mental illness, including housing.

He also made similar decisions while he was the governor of California - - releasing more than half the state’s mental hospital patients and passing a law that abolished involuntary hospitalization of people struggling with mental illness.

He led the national trend.

That this addle-brained piece of crap is considered a God among Republicans goes to show what a menace they are to our country. Theirs is an ideology steeped in evil.

Reagan? Really?

Reagan left office nearly 30 years ago. That's really your go to excuse for why Democrat controlled LA is home to such squalor like Skid Row?

Are you going to blame Detroit looking like a nuclear bomb hit it on Eisenhower?

Maybe Chicago's record breaking gun violence on Nixon?

This is how is exploded. Since then the mentally ill really have no place to go - most is out patient. They need help but can't get it.

Same with a lot of the vets - PTSD, etc.

Yes, really.

You do realize he cut HUD spending from $80 billion to $18 billion? He created the homeless problem.

Your crappy politicians of yesteryear don't get a pass because they left office years ago.

The budget for LA County DPSS is primarily made up of state funds smart guy.

Also, if Reagan who has been out of office for 30 years is to blame, then why are states with the highest homelessness per capita always bright blue Democrat states? Why are the states with the lowest per capita homelessness always red states?

the difference between the homeless in LA and the homeless in 3rd world countries is that the people in 3rd world countries aren't harassed when they are trying to find a place to live.

example: favelas.

the good thing about not being strict about "development" in certain areas like areas that Favelas grow is that the poor and the bad guys stay there. so you won't see things like Skid Row where there's a bunch of homeless people surrounded by buildings with million dollar condos.

the bad side is that ... you have places like favelas.

America is problematic from the get-go, though.

1. Everyone wants to move here causing an over-saturated market.
2. With so many people moving here, especially the rich, it drives up the cost of housing. A lot of foreigners who come here legally usually have money (my case). This makes it difficult for people who are natives to get anywhere.
3. Companies outsource jobs to cheaper countries.
4. There is no border protection so you have poor people from all over the world littering our streets.

Put this all together and you have the perfect disaster recipe.
