My grandparents came here from Ireland. Does that mean I am Irish? No, I am an American with Irish heritage.

Would you ask me why I didn't marry someone who was Irish? Or why my husband (who is not of Irish descent) married me? Or why people in a certain part of the country might marry Irish people more often than in another part?

And, by the way, last time I checked, Americans are free to marry whomever they fall in love with without anyone questioning why they are doing so (or why their spouses are marrying them).

Simply put: who cares?

Only a small percentage of Mexicans would be considered white.

No need to split hairs, we know OP is referring to Mexicans in general, most of whom are mestizo.

I am no expert on genealogical research but......

https://www.britannica.com/place/Mexico/Ethnic-groups

From Encyclopedia Britannica, "Mexicans of European heritage (“whites”), who constitute between one-tenth and one-fifth of the total. Generally speaking, the mixture of indigenous and European peoples has produced the largest segment of the population today—mestizos, who account for between one-half and two-thirds of the total."

That said, the term Mestizo has largely been dropped from the popular Mexican vocabulary, with the word even having pejorative connotations.

In reference to Jessica Alba, she appeared on the George Lopez show circa 2009 when he was inviting celebrities on his show to give them a DNA test to see where their heritage comes from.

The results for Alba were 83% European and 13% Indigenous American which surprised even Alba. Lopez joked, "You are whiter than Larry David." (as Larry David had tested 37% Native American).

The Pew Research Center is one of the best sources to directly answer the OP's question.

Here is a quote from their latest research on the topic (link is below):

"Asian and Hispanic newlyweds are the most likely to be intermarried. Nearly three-in-ten Asian newlyweds (29%) were married to someone of a different race or ethnicity in 2015, as were 27% of Hispanic newlyweds. Intermarriage for these groups was especially prevalent among the U.S. born: 39% of U.S.-born Hispanics and almost half (46%) of U.S.-born Asian newlyweds were intermarried in 2015."

Yes.

And really, who says "white folks"? You dont hear of people saying "Indian folks" or "Asian folks". Seems to me this entire trollish thread was started to race bait and create arguments.

California has a Latino majority now so it shouldn't be too surprising
It's official: Latinos now outnumber whites in California - LA Times

Our lovely Mayor is part Mexican or claims to be . Supposedly his grandfather came over without documents as he mentioned recently.

He says he is Mexican ,Jewish ,Italian or whatever demographic he is pandering to on that day . Maybe some days he says he is Muslim or homeless too .

But visually he looks like what you would consider a "white guy"

If you look at Mexican telenovella actors many of them don't look like what you would think of as Mexicans or Mexican Americans that you see in L.A

Not all Mexicans look the same just like not all Americans look the same.

The 6th richest person in the world.. right under Mark Zuckerberg is Carlos Slim Helu a Mexican of Lebanese heritage .
