I believe that.

WHen I came to Cal in the mid 60's we rented a 3 bd 2ba split level with fireplace, sunken living room, wet bar for about $350. THis was on Stanford St. Wonder what this would be today, at least $4K.

Inflation adjusted $350 would be
$2,713.11 in today's dollars .
According to government CPI calculator

One can look up rents on the Santa Monica Rent Control site and put in address and up come the rentals and current prices. Depending how long the tenants lived in that apt where I lived, todays rent is $1774.

Before RC as I said there were fair landlords and gougers.

This is the current rent at the Stanford St apt I talked about. It all depends on where the rent was when RC started, as increases have come every year. This year is a high it seems, 2%.

Downtown LA? If so, not really. Downtown SaMo is still more expensive.

In DTLA 1br units in newer buildings go for ~$2800. 2br ~$3800. I'm currently in a 1br paying ~$3200 + parking but it's an upscale building with unnecessary amenities.

Sorry about the tech influence.

Ha, not quite...but I can't complain. If my wife and I were not both in tech, I don't think it would make sense to be here.
