Hi,

Does anyone know how Morning traffic is (weekday) from Azusa to Van Nuys? Is it best to leave about 6am to minimize/ avoid traffic? Any help is appreciated.. Thanks

All I can say is: that will be one hell of a commute but hubby used to do it (car pool) from Glendora to Burbank Airport. Yes, the earlier the better. I don't remember what time they used to leave home.

Google maps says if you leave at 6am the normal commute range is 45 min to 1 hr 20 min.

The commute home is the one you should really worry about. If you leave at 4 google is showing average commute times of 1 hr 5 in to 2 hr 10 min.

Azusa to Van Nuys the commute from hell. I made this kind of drive for over 2 years from west covina to chatsworth. But my work start time was usually 5am. occasionally they would switch me to a 9am start time.

also Google maps is damn liar in regards to travel times.

If you leave before 5am, you will be able to make it about 45mins.....If you leave at 5:30am that drive increases to 1hr +
The issue is the 210 after the 605... .. when you hit duarte/monrovia/arcadia <---- the 210 driving ****hole. every day there is 90% odds of slowdown of some major sort and im talking slowing down... like under 25mph type of movement. that is until you get past pasadena to the rosebowl.... once you get to the rosebowl, it opens up for a bit and turns into the 134. 134 through eagle rock is ok, usually around 40mph -60mph... but as soon as you come up to glendale and the 2 fwy.. slows way way way back down until you get through that corridor. Then you cross the 5-fwy which has the major potential to be backed up onto the 134. Then when you get to the 170 and cross it you start dealing with the 405 traffic. That is backed up onto the slowass 101. But depending on where you work or where you're trying to go you can hop on the streets from that point forward.

--------------------------------

Commute Home, all in reverse 1hr and 30min+

Not to sound bleak, but the drive gets old quick. Not including the time not spent relaxing and being on red-alert while driving due to the people in general.

It’s going to suck. I recently started working in north Hollywood and live in walnut. Leave around 615am and it takes approximately 1.5 hours and same going home. You are going even farther to van nuys...plan to spend 3-4 hours round trip on the freeway every day. If you leave any later in the morning, it’s even worse.
