Over 5 years ago before I moved to seattle amc falbrook mall in west hills,California and amc woodland hills were my go to.

After the pandemic will these movie theaters ever reopen or will they go out of bussiness??

I wonder if the amc in the old sears building at westfield topanga is still going to open or did that deal fall through??

They are liable to close as new movies being released are streamed and you can watch them on your computer, etc.

I suspect only luxury type theaters, such as Cinepolis, will remain. For people who really have to see movies in a theater and are willing to pay extra.

Movie theaters in other areas of the country are still packed (if allowed to open). Sure you watch on your PC or TV but it's not the same feeling as going into a theater. Even if you have a cool setup, nothing will replace an actual movie theater (unless you literally have one of equal size in your house and allow people over).

Do people even watch movies on their TVs anymore? Does it seem to you too that people are using their phones to view entertainment content? People have netflix and other movie applications (and some simply use Pirate Bay).

I am so looking forward to going back to the movie theatres as are many of my friends. Watching from home is not even close to the same experience.

The question becomes how much longer can they sit on unused real estate? But then nobody else has a use for it either except non paying homeless. With the business model depending upon a stream of blockbusters but fire marshals and health agencies refusing to let such crowds in will the unit price for the better experience be low enough?

Fewer movies being made now and they still make good money from streaming services, as many people who did not go to movies, now watch them at home to avoid boredom.

Paramount has Top Gun 2 and the Quiet Place 2 ready for theaters. They are holding out on streaming because Top Gun especially should be viewed in a theater. But if they’re on the brink of bankruptcy they’ll release to streaming. Watching what Paramount does will be a indicator on if movie theaters survive....I hope they do
