With all the recent talk about Red Flag laws I thought I would share this. A 5150 is a police code for someone who is a danger to themselves or others. I have a buddy who has a 55ish year old sister. In the past few months, she has been run in on no less than FIVE 5150s. Her cheese has definitely slipped off her cracker. She talks to the Devil, slams doors in her apartment all night long, screams all night long, shouts racial slurs to her apartment neighbors, slams her face and arms into the bathroom sink causing black eyes and multiple bruises. You get the picture. Every time, the cops come out and scoop her up and take her to a local hospital mental health ward. Three days later she is released with a prescription for anti-psychotic meds (which she never takes) and a phone number for a therapist (who she never calls). This has gone on and on for months and months with no suggestion of committing her. She will never get better on her own and the only saving grace is that I don't believe she owns a gun. So the next time some high minded official talks about collecting up a potentially deadly shooter with definite "warning signs", this is what they do and it's not working. We can do better.

Yeh, according to the libs, a social worker should be called in first, so these people dont accidently be shot by the cops.
