We were set to sign a lease on an apartment in Silver Lake, and the realtor sent us the lease, then rented it out from under us. So we are back to square one. Again. We are wondering if we should expand our search to other areas since we are not having much luck finding something that fits our needs in WeHo, Los Feliz, or Silver Lake. Would it be crazy to look in these areas?

Beachwood Canyon
Hollywood Hills
Pasadena

I'll be commuting to USC, and while I don't mind a reasonable drive, I don't want to be weeping in my car every morning either. For various reasons, it's in our best interest to have a place set up before we arrive, so not only am I getting discouraged now, I'm getting desperate. We've found some places in these other areas that look promising, but if the drive is going to be horrific it's probably not worth it. If I'm being delusional, please let me know. Thanks in advance!

'weeping in my car'. hee hee. Why don't you drive from each of these areas during rush hour? See if it makes you 'weep'.

I'd love to test out the drive, but unfortunately we won't be able to. We're relocating from out of town and we need to have a place ready when we arrive.

use the 'Search function' at the top of the page. Search under 'Pasadena to USC'.... many prior threads will come up that discuss the commute to USC from different neighborhoods. USC is just outside downtown, so your commute won't be much different than the commute from 'XXX to downtown'.
