I have to attend a new job training for a week in Long Beach (My new job will not be in Long Beach, but the training is at the head quarters located there). I live in the Monrovia area and am wondering if I should commute every day or just get a hotel and stay in Long Beach for a week. I have to be at the training every morning at 8:30am. Any advice on commuting vs. staying?

Depends on the gas mileage you get on your car, etc. It's a long commute as you are aware, but the gas mileage on your car will help you to assess whether the hotel room would be cheaper or more expensive.

Can you catch the Gold Line at the Sierra Madre Villa Station and then continue on the Blue Line down to anywhere close to your training facility? That could be an option.

Everybody and their brother is heading down the 605 in the morning. Leave home by 6 or 6:30 and get breakfast in Long Beach.

i had a coworker in my la palma office(slightly shorter commute than long beach) that came from monrovia. she found it easier to drive at 445 or 5am and then sleep in her car in the parking lot than drive in morning traffic.

i did the reverse, doing training in monrovia coming from los alamitos and my company put me up because the commute was anywhere from 45min to 2hours depending on traffic and accidents. it was just too much a pain in the rear

Its only a 45 min drive! If you dont like it maybe consider moving to the Long Beach area like Signal Hill or Los Al.

The thread starter already said they're only going to LB for a week of training.
