Yeah, like for all those kids making posts asking what Compton is like. Or if South Central is really that bad.
Or, where are the most dangerous projects of Los Angeles, and would I be safe if I drove past them going 50 mph while trying to take a picture?

You can start by blaming record companies and a few rappers. Compton and South Central for a hot minute was ghetto fabulous money and ratings. Unfortunately some kids by into what Hollywood & MTV feeds them. So sure, some kids want to see the place rapped about by NWA, and Ice Cube and few others.

You never see videos of a singers & rappers walking through the rough streets of Milwaukee. Kids aren't glamourized by those ghetto's. They are glamourized by what they see on You tube.

L.A. is a sensational city. The image sells, even it's bad.

If I had to choose between the 2 I would pick West Hollywood over Hollywood- although it is more expensive. I honestly haven't seen a large black community anywhere in the Hollywood area or the valley. I think around Culver City is where the closest black community would be to Hollywood.

As far as West Hollywood goes, the large gay male population usually means low crime. It also means pricey. Gays often gentrify the hell out of neighborhoods; they are the only minority which can cause property values to go up.

What I meant was you dont have to base your decision on that. West Hollywood, for instance, is just awesome.
