I am relocating for a job, ive been looking in glendale and tarzana, which is where my job is. i have a housing budget of about $1500 a month.

My credit is crap, will this affect getting into an apartment, i have the money just not the credit score.

What additional places should i be looking at, it would be me and my wife we also have one 15 month old and a 5 yr old, so i'd like it to be family friendly or at least not overly violent.

I grew up in london, so i'm used to the city.

Any help or advice is really appreciated.

How much is it really to live in LA?

There are tons of apartments within five miles of Tarzana. The more "middle" of the San Fernando Valley you go (west from Tarzana), the less expensive it will probably get from Tarzana. Anything along the 101 or Ventura Boulevard is expensive. Anything going west, east, or south gets more expensive.

Probably not too dangerous within five miles of Tarzana; some working class neighborhoods but not horrible.

In fact...

Glendale is a little far from Tarzana.

Reseda, Van Nuys, Winnetka, Canoga Park are probably the closest and most affordable. Anything else gets expensive or too far.

if you have poor credit do they just ask for more deposit, or do they just deny you?
