if you don't mind living outside of los angles county, orange county is a little cheaper. oxnard in ventera county is beautiful-a little cheaper but generally the same. if u want to move to so cal in general, ur best bet is san diego. same climatae and beaches, just cheaper. san diego is more than just its downtown-it is a HUGE county, from orange county to mexico. riverside and san bernadino are becoming highly developed. if you're moving to southern california for the name, those two are the best because they are the cheapest. they still aren't very safe though

my favorite out of the ones i mentioned is san diego and then oxnard.

good luck. hope this gives sum1 more choices

He told me you can get a 2 bedroom aptment in LA for $475 a month. I found that hard to believe. I am moving because I've always wanted to live in LA and I'm sick of the town we're in. We are paying $465 a month where we are now. You said you can't get much for $600 in most parts of LA. What parts of LA could we get something for that or less?

thats in ventura county if u don't necessarily need los angeles county. u cuold afford a 3 bed house there for less than a studio anywhere in l.a. county

theres even a jack in the box ten minutes away

btw...ventura county is beautiful

If you are Black you'd probably really enjoy Ladera, Baldwin Hills area. If you aren't and even if you are then you might want to move a little further up Slauson toward Culver City. I don't know what the rents are over there. If you are working in Torrance and living in Culver City-Ladera area you will be going against traffic. I live in the Hancock Park area and travel to Compton, Lynwood other areas and can leave home at 8:20 to be there for 9, taking 10 to the 110. If your friend will work downtown on Wilshire that is very close and she/he will have the option of the freeway or street.

I'd also suggest you live in the Hancock Park/Korean Town/Mid-Wilshire/Miracle Mile Areas. These are nice, full of young people and lots of things to do. $1700 for a nice size 2 bedroom is pretty average.

I don't think I'd live in Gardena as a newcomer because its really Compton, but certain parts of Hawthorne and Carson seem to be pretty nice. Carson has a state college and its a little cheaper to rent there.

CherryPie112233, how about moving to Bakersfield. It's 92 miles from L.A. and my F-I-L just got a nice apt in a nice new complex for $600 or so. $600 will have you in a room where transients/homeless live.

You mentioned that your son is an actor. Is that what he wants to do for a living? I think it's great that he already knows what he wants to do. I work in the entertainment industry. If he needs any tips, don't hesitate to ask.

Has he had acting lessons and/or experience? Do you manage his career? It's a tough business, but if he's passionate about it and willing to get proper training, he'll probably do all right.

Good luck to you both.
