Default Westwood Park

Hi,

I was wondering if it was safe to take an appartment on veteran avenue.. in front of westwood park and the federal building.

Im new to los angeles and dont really know if getting an appartment in front of a park is a good idea.

If its not.. could someone tell me in what area of westwood should i look for a safe place.

thanks.

Hi,

I would think that that would be fine. There are lots of demonstsrations outside of the federal building, and that might be a pain, but they are always peaceful and there is a huge police presence there so I think that you would be very safee there. That is a nice park, I pass it on my way to my kids sports classes twice a week and always see families playing and happy there. Veteran gets busy sometimes, so that might be a drag, but otherwise I'd think that that location would be great. Good luck!

This made me smile! When my family moved here when I was 3 years old, we lived on Veterans and I played at that very park! It's a nice area and you shouldn't have any problems (aside form the aformentioned demonstrations from time to time). Good luck!

I live a block from the park that you speak of. My GF and I took a nap in the grass last summer there. *sigh* There's a low homeless population, many students and professionals... The Fed. building has a post office in it, which is convenient. A few blocks east is a "little persia" area with all sorts of markets and restaurants. Westwood Village will be 3-8 blocks away depending on what block you are on. There's access to the 405 RIGHT there (very useful). And another benefit is that there's a Jack in the Box on Veteran and Santa Monica Blvd., potentially walking distance for the drunken munchies.

This is an amazing area- you will love it.

I'm so sick of seeing all that Farsi writing on Westwood Blvd. south of Wilshire. It almost looks like a foreign country with the exception of Borders and a few other businesses.
