I am remembering The Sapphire Room on Figueroa near Manchester; The Polka Dot Club on So.Central Ave near Century Blvd. AND the more well known MEMORY Lane on Santa Barbara & Marty's on the Hill on Slauson where as a cocktail
waitress around 1966 I served drinks to Miles Davis, Carmen McKray, & Muddy Waters . Thanks for the trip to that sweet time. Trish Murphy / At that time , my name was Pat Breen. CHEERS

Is the Palomino still around? I remember seeing Jerry Lee Lewis there.

Was fortunate enough to play the Shamrock (Baba was so great!) the Gaslight (once with the Sons of Kyuss and another with Dobey Daenger ft. Billy Bremner on guitar) and Al's (a number of times) on later tours down the coast from my home base of Vancouver.

Many others from 1981-1999 too.

Great memories.

Cheers

Doug

When I saw the thread title, for some reason, the first two places that came to mind were Perkins Palace and The Mint.

I looked through the whole thread.

Charles mentioned Perkins palace in 2010. Daktari mentioned Perkins Palace in 2012. Bay Area Hillbilly posted in 2015 that the Perkins Palace site became a condo development.

I thought for certain that The Mint had closed....but it is open. Did The Mint close at one point and then reopen ?

I remember when I was little my aunt from socal would come visit us in norcal. She and her friends would talk a lot about a Cinnamon Cinder and a Florentine Gardens. When I moved to the San Fernando Valley as an adult, Palomino, FM Station, Carmelo's, and The Baked Potato all were there. But they disappeared after a while. Except for Cinnamon Cinder which eventually became Platinum which is now gone too. La Ve Lee on Ventura came later and maybe it's still there. Oops, no it isn't.

The Mint: Music Tickets

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/robert...b_1595830.html

"Well, when I first took it over the club had been closed for almost a year. They were not in a very good trend at the time. Back in the ‘80s and even up to the late ‘90s the Mint had been established as the frontrunner in terms of L.A. music, but in the ‘00s, they slipped up a bit. And so I wanted to come in here and bring the quality and integrity back to the club and also to physically do a few things to the club to make it more comfortable and more inviting to come to. We renovated the club back in ‘04 and ‘05."

Gorkys! My mom used to go there.

I saw a blurb in a newsfeed that the Reseda Theatre will be remodeled and re-open as a Laemmle theatre.

I went to The Mint less than 5 years ago? Saw a band from South by Southwest on a reunion/nostalgia tour.
