Hi there,

We are college students about to start our semester here at UL. We have shortlisted our apartment list into 2 camps: a few near Congress and Guilbeau, and a few near Bertrand and Eraste Landry (how do you pronounce that?). We plan to bike to Cajun Field, park our bike, and take the (free) Cajun bus to school everyday and back.

So,
1) How safe are these areas?
2) Is biking relatively safe in Lafayette? We will either be biking along Congress or Bertrand (around 8-9 am), so any info on those streets would be great.

Thank you guys for reading!

Congress & Guilbeau might be a little safer area than Bertrand & "Eee Rass" Landry. Bike ride would be a lot easier from Eraste Landry to Cajun Field, though.

If you cycle down congress you will have to use the sidewalk; not adviseable, i.e. Congress is out of the question, there is a Congress City bus but it only runs till 6pm.

Eraste Landry, if you are comfortable riding in traffic, that may work.

Living down Johnston, where they have a grocery store, Albertsons, would be most practical if you can manage to live there
